History of Love Your Neighbor Intl. Ministries.

Love Your Neighbor Ministries (501(c3) non-profit organization) was started as simple acts of meeting the needs of the hungry dayworkers looking for jobs in the heart of City of Los Angeles. One afternoon as Scott sat at MacDonald to have lunch during his lunch break, he noticed a man across the table reading what appeared to be a gospel tract. So, being compelled, Scott asked whether he believed in Jesus or not, to which he replied, no.  He said someone had given him a tract and was reading it. Seeing it as a good opportunity, Scott began to share the gospel, but as he was doing so, he noticed that the man’s eyes were fixed more upon the hamburger Scott was eating rather than what Scott had to say. Realizing that the man was obviously hungry, he bought him lunch. As they sat and ate together, the man eventually shared a story of how he had been standing on the side of the Home Depot parking looking to be hired since 5 a.m. but without any luck, and he didn’t have anything to eat since then. This was during a time when US economy was at its worst in decades, which resulted in many people were losing their jobs. As they were talking, Scott suddenly saw about twenty others like him on the parking lot of Home Depot standing. When Scott asked whether they too like him were in the same situation, he responded “yes.”

From that time Scott began to give out lunch bags for them regularly in the name of Jesus, not knowing that such a small act of showing God’s love would lead to ministry of evangelistic worship services, feeding, clothing, and meeting practical needs up to 500 people in three locations on weekly bases. Having gained people’s trust  through the acts of love and kindness hundreds have opened their hearts to the gospel, which eventually resulted in birth of a church. Soon after, others types of ministries such as Father’s Love VBS for inner city kids, counseling referral service, bible studies followed. Love Your Neighbor Ministry started unintentionally but was intentional in the heart of God. God intends all his people to love their neighbors through showing practical acts of kindness, whether it’s physical, emotional or spiritual. Live’s can be touched and transformed through our simple obedience.
