About Scott & Christine Bang

Christine and Scott are Korean American missionaries to Thailand from Southern California. They’ve been living in Bangkok Thailand with their four children, David, Anna, Esther and Joy since January, 2016. Besides leading the church ministry, Scott also teaches biblical courses Christine teaches English at Methodist Seminary of Thailand in Bangkok.

Scott’s Story

Scott’s passion since the beginning of conversion has been to share the gospel to the non-believers and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. God’s calling and gifting in his life was immediately evidenced by him leading many people to the Lord through street evangelism and personal witnessing.  Scott has been serving the Lord for over twenty years in various roles as youth pastor, English ministry pastor, evangelist and urban ministry director before being sent out as missionary. He is a founder Love Your Neighbor International Ministry and a graduate of Fuller Seminary (M.Div.) and Biola University, Talbot Theological Seminary (D.Min.) He is ordained with Christian Missionary Alliance and is part of Vision 50 mission organization.

Called to Missions

Scott regularly evangelized in streets, parks, malls, campuses and beaches around his hometown in Orange County and Los Angeles, California. One evening as he was witnessing for Christ on the pier of New Port Beach, California, he became very frustrated. On an average night, about five to ten people would pray to receive Jesus Christ but that particular night, no one cared to listen or respond. So, feeling frustrated and spiritually worn out, he walked to the end of the pier to talk to God. Why wouldn’t these people listen? Why are they so hardened? As Scott was looking out into the deep Pacific Ocean and praying, he suddenly heard God speak to his heart, “this country has many churches, ministers, and venues for people to hear the gospel, but on the other side of this ocean, there are people who have never heard. I want you to go and tell them my gospel.” That was the beginning of his vision and preparation to the mission field, which led him to Thailand.

Christine’s Story

Christine became a true Christian when she responded to an altar-call at a revival meeting near her home town when she was a teenager. Her experience of God’s love and power then led her to desire working with children. Since college, Christine has served the Lord in children’s ministry of various churches, including as children’s pastor.  Her passion has been to teach and develop children to become member of God’s army to shine the light of Jesus in this dark world. She is also the greatest ministry partner of Scott, working alongside in various ministry functions, both in the church and out in the community.

Called to Missions

Christine always had a heart for world missions. In college she dedicated herself to become a missionary and majored in Inter-Cultural Ministries at a Vanguard University, where she met Scott who also shared the same passion, vision, and major. Following her undergrad education at Vanguard University, she went to study at Biola University for Master’s degree in Teaching English as Second Language with an intention to use her training in the mission field.  Along with Scott, she was involved in many short-term mission trips to Mexico as well as inner-city ministry working with the poor.
